Bias aside, is the rapture truly near?

Depends on your perspective. If you mean in the way most people understand time probably not. If you mean in geologic terms its probably in an eyeblink (in 4.5 billion years of world history another thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand is really kind of an eyeblink). If you mean in God's time it'll probably be a minute or so from now since God predates time itself.
