Your phone bill for long distance?

So my child has been using my phone to call her boyfriend because he is in the oil plantations in Alberta for 3 years but he has made good money and is coming home in half a month. Anyways, stupidly she put her cell in the laundry so now she is using my house phone to call long distance. Well, not exactly it more like he is calling. Would that cost anything if the person calls me house if it was long distance? Or would it just ost that amount of time using the phone line without long distance charging?
