Do they have any cheap motels in honolulu?
If you are referring to the type of motels like on the U.S. mainland, where you can drive right up to the motel, pull in a parking lot and park your car for free in a parking lot that is right outside your motel room door, you won't find that in the tourist area of Waikiki. For one, parking is rarely free at any of the hotels and the parking lots are usually part of parking garages that may or may not be near the part of the building that you are staying. However, there are a number of hotels offering deep discounts on room rates right now .... for instance next weekend one travel site pulled up the Maile Sky Court Hotel at $64/night which is half off the regular rate. The only cheaper one that came up on that site was the Pagoda Hotel, which is not a Waikiki tourist area hotel, but close to our big shopping mall, Ala Moana, and a few blocks in from the closest beach. On the North Shore, we had a true motel, The Laie Inn, but that recently closed down and will be opening up as a resort like hotel later from what I have heard. Really cheap options in Waikiki would be hostels such as the Polynesian Hostel Beach Club (recommended by Lonely Planet) and Hostelling International Waikiki (also recommended by L.P.) at $25/night or less. Good luck!
